FAQ/Preparation

What shots does my dog need?

Veterinarian certificate indicating the current vaccination proof of:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper (DHPP)
  • Bordetella Vaccine (Kennel Cough)
  • Negative fecal test result within the past 6 months
  • Monthly flea and tick preventative medication
Will my dog be in a crate?

Only if you use one at home! I do not crate dogs without the owner’s approval.

What should I bring?

  • Food, treats, food dish (no water dish needed)
  • Any medication
  • Crate- only if used at home. I do have a medium metal crate. If your dog uses a smaller, soft crate at home, please bring.
  • Dog beds: I have Plenty, so no need to bring one!
  • All dogs must be on a leash until they enter the yard and then leave to go home! I do not walk your dog, so you can leave the leash in your car after drop off.
How many dogs do you board at once?

Usually no more than Lucy + 4. Before accepting a new reservation, I carefully review which dogs are already booked to ensure a safe and compatible environment. I use a buddy system to match dogs based on temperament, size, and play style—creating a positive experience for everyone.

Do you require a meet & greet?

YES!!! It is imperative that I get to know your dog prior to their stay here. I need to know that the dogs which may overlap will all get along. Plus it gives your pooch a chance to visit the property so you’re not just dropping them off to a strange place.

Is there an agreement I have to sign?

Yes! It can found under the “Agreement” tab above.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A 20% deposit must be paid upon booking a reservation.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Do you accept large dogs?

That depends. A mandatory meet & greet is required. If your dog shows any signs of aggression or if I feel he/she is too strong for me to handle or if I feel they are any threat to my Lucy, they will not be accepted.

Do you ever use a bark collar?

Only with the owner’s permission. If the owner used one for their dog, I would obviously want to use it for their stay here.

Do you ever use dog sedation?

If the owner uses it for their dog, I would like to have it on hand for their stay. If I feel it would be beneficial for your dog if they are anxious, I would ask for your permission first. I use GKD Hemp Calming Chews.

Do you walk the dogs?

NO. My yard is plenty big enough for dogs to play and playing exerts much more energy than a walk ever could. It is also safer.

What do you do when it’s a rainy or snowy day?

I make as much room as possible. All of the toys come out! I also block off anything that could be damaged and all of the hardwood floors are always covered.

I also have a variety of jackets in different sizes and spa robes for after the towel dry-off to make them feel warm and secure.

If it’s a cold, snowy day, I guarantee the gas fireplace will be on!

My dog hates cats and you have one. How do you handle that?

Easy. The upstairs living area is always blocked off from the 1st floor. Athena is usually outdoors except at night, where she sleeps in my room. The dogs never see the cat.

What are drop off times?

M-F drop off is anytime between 9am and 7pm. NO drop off’s prior to 8:00am. Weekends drop off is 9:30am. If you need to drop off earlier (8am), there is a $15 charge. Most people choose to drop their pup off the day/night before.

What is pick up time?

Overnight boarders must be picked up by 1pm. If that is not possible, they can stay until 7pm. The cost is $10 per hour after 1pm.
